on the needles

I've been keen to find a chevron knit for ages and found one  on etsy here

I even broke my own make do and mend policy of only using free patterns and parted with a really tiny bit of cash (thank you 1940s patterns).

Just love these colours together, they look very deco to me and the two darker colours really make the yellow pop, despite my ropy photos.

The pattern is shockingly easy (just a 2 row repeat). Unfortunately, the k3tog keeps catching me out. One of the 3 keeps escaping, only to reappear after I've completed several rows of knitting, and forcing another pull down - sigh.

There's even a little bit of moss stitch on the yoke, which makes my heart sing, when I see all those rows of tiny little bumps.

I couldn't find the 4ply colours I wanted locally, so went with stylecraft dk in citron, bottle and burgundy.

When I say locally, I am talking about Boyes which, all over the north of England, are our local go to for affordable yarn (and pretty much anything else you might want) - think the, now defunct but sadly missed, 'Woolworths', albeit not quite as posh (!)

The change in yarn meant I went from 3 and 3.75mm needles to 3.5 and 4mm, and amended the pattern to 6 stripes of 14 rows instead of 4 stripes of 22 rows in order to make allowance for the 3 not 4 colours.

Another benefit of the double knit over 4ply is that it also gives me a bit of instant gratification and a break from the fiddly double cable pattern.

Clear as mud? Good ... I'll get back to my knitting then.
